Health is an increasing value in America, especially in our time and age where obesity is considered an “epidemic” and liposuction is the most popular cosmetic surgery in the world. But I draw a line here: Most people are not obsessed with feeling good but looking good.
Corporations know this, and they also know how to make serious bank from cashing in on people’s worry lines. There is a surplus of weight loss and diet fads. I am guilty too, of participating in such things. Recently, Dr. Oz went under fire for claiming that Raspberry Ketone and Green Coffee Bean Extract pills are “miracle weight loss pills.”
Have I tried them? Yes. Did I lose weight? Yes. However, I was on a twelve hundred calorie diet(carbs was my secret lover whom I only met with at night) while exercising about fourteen hours a week. This is how they get you. Most pills claim all these great fantastical things but all of their studies, statistics, and what not are tested on small groups consisting of people who are overweight—meaning they lose more weight rapidly than the average person. Some pills claim that you do not need diet and exercise… that’s just silly. Diet pills only work because they speed up your metabolism which aids the breaking of fat cells. They are near useless without EXERCISE.
I’m going to reiterate that: EXERCISE.
People need to realize that nothing works without actual self-labor.
These get skinny quick schemes appeal to people by saying things such as: “Get the body you deserve now! Try ________.”
Well you know what? You don’t deserve it. You deserve it when you work for it. You deserve it when you exercise and you sweat and because of that labor, those supplements can actually work in tune with your body.
There’s no magic drink, or pill, or weird dust to sprinkle over your food that will make you healthy.
Only you can make you healthy.
And let me add, being skinny does not define being healthy.
Strong is sexy.

Why I hate going on Facebook.
the thing that upsets me most here is that quite a few of these sample replies show profile photos of children. These people are raising families and kids. And for those fathers with daughters,I wonder how amusing they would find it if they knew there was at least a 1 in 4 chance of their own child being sexually assaulted or raped in her own lifetime.
A real funny joke there, dads.
